Spurring INnovations for forest eCosystem sERvices in Europe (SINCERE) is a four-year project funded through the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 programme. From 2018 to 2022, SINCERE will develop novel policies and new business models by connecting knowledge and expertise from practice, science and policy, across Europe and beyond. The SINCERE Project in its activities is governed by high standards of ethical conduct, in compliance with the laws and norms that regulate its activity, namely in the matter of privacy and protection of personal data.

Personal data shall mean any information relating to a single person that can be identified, directly or indirectly, by reference to the name, identification number, contact details, identification by electronic means or other elements of his / her physical, physiological, economic, cultural or social.

This document establishes our Privacy Policy and Protection of Personal Data, establishing our obligations regarding the collection and processing of personal data, of the representatives of the project, partners and other stakeholders.

The SINCERE Project collects and processes personal data from the data subjects in the scope and for the fulfillment of legal obligations to which it is obliged, as well as for the fulfillment of contracts in which the holder of the data is a party, namely service provision, including training and professional training services and thematic events in SINCERE’s areas of activity, considered of public interest. It collects and also handles contacts (name, company name and email) on its institutional website through the availability of voluntary and informed registration tools for those who want it.

SINCERE Project maintains a database of institutional contacts, containing personal information relating to public office holders, journalists, administrators, top managers and other collaborators of public and private companies. These contacts are obtained directly by indication of companies, media, consultation of public sources and open information and by direct collection from data holders.

SINCERE Project treats personal data in strict respect of the purposes that determined its collection and ensuring the privacy of the information, not keeping the personal data beyond the time necessary to pursue those purposes and legally established deadlines.

The SINCERE Project, within the scope of its public interest mission, announces its activities, events, training actions and relevant information about its areas of intervention and advocacy, by means of communication by email, having access to a database of emails, constituted over time through the collection of email data performed under the terms described above. This database is used solely for the purpose of disclosing SINCERE activities and information or in which The SINCERE Project is a partner not transferring any data to third parties nor allowing the use of such data by third parties.

The SINCERE Project guarantees, in accordance with the law, the rights of the owners of personal data, namely the right to verify and correct their data, oppose its treatment and require its erasure.

SINCERE Project shall ensure that the personal data processing carried out by it or its subcontractors shall be subject to adequate security measures, in particular to prevent any risk of loss and alteration of data and unauthorized disclosure or access. All SINCERE contributors only process personal data under superior instructions under this Privacy Policy and in compliance with strict confidentiality obligations.
